Who received the ECCRE research awards in 2024?

Before every ECU conference, the board of ECCRE meets to select the recipients of ECCRE’s three research awards The ECCRE Research Award, The ECCRE Best Presented Research Award, and The ECCRE Young Researcher of the year Award.

During their meeting in connection with the ECU conference in Valencia in May 2024, the ECCRE board decided not to give away The ECCRE Research Award since no candidates had been nominated within the timeline.

The ECCRE Best Presented Research Award 

In 2024, the ECCRE Best Presented Research Award was awarded to Javier Muñoz Laguna, EBPI-UWZH Musculoskeletal Epidemiology Research Group, UZH and Balgrist, Zurich, Switzerland.

The ECCRE Best Presented Research Award is awarded to a researcher who has submitted an original abstract to the ECU conference at a given year. It will be with a focus on the presentation performance on research projects of an excellent quality. With the award comes a prize of EUR 3,500 – financed by the ECU Convention budget.

The ECCRE Young Researcher of the year Award 

In 2024, the ECCRE Young Researcher of the year Award was awarded to Joshua Plener, Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Toronto, Canada.

The ECCRE Young Researcher of the year Award is awarded to a young researcher, who has submitted an abstract to the ECU conference at a given year. There will be a focus on a person, who is an early career researcher with a talent and a dedication to pursue a full-time research career within the chiropractic profession. The research should be of excellent quality. In addition to the honour of receiving the award, the recipient receives a prize of EUR 2,000.

The criteria to be named young are

  • Not necessarily followed a formal research career, published less than 10 peer-reviewed articles
  • Maximum 3 years after having been assigned the PhD degree – shall be documented
  • Has a goal of working as a full-time researcher
